Trash rock originators, The Monsters continue solidifying their legacy as one of Switzerland’s prime underground exports with the release of their new album Off The Road We Go, on October 16th through Voodoo Rhythm Records. In the time between 2021’s You’re Class, I’m Trash and this announcement, the world has gotten way more familiar with the band’s uncompromising style of bludgeoning rock n’ roll fury with two tours of a polarized America and multiple runs through an increasingly polarized Europe. With The Monsters starting their first US East Coast tour in 14 years today in NYC at TV Eye, the band have released their new single, You Got Me Going.
Off the Road We Go doesn’t stray from the viscerality embedded in each Monsters release, and the music is just as impactful on the nervous system as a close-quarter chainsaw, or the burning heat of the mid-Summer Death Valley sun. The album title’s meaning stems from going off the beaten path while walking the monotonus treadmill of life: waking up in the morning to the same routine, knowing exactly what’s in store for you from that moment until the day’s end, doing what you can to earn a living and always being on a schedule, self-medicating in the off hours, day in and out, year after year, only to realize you’re not living at all, or never were in the first place. Life planned out before you realize, and all the while that countdown clock above us whittles away the most precious resource we’ve got.
