Since 2011, they’ve carved out their own legacy as the core of The Crotches. After a decade that saw their home region dominated by international headlines, followed by their own domestic disillusionment and relocation abroad, the brothers return to introduce themselves to a brand-new audience with their latest album, Fuck The Crotches, that is out today through streaming platforms and can be pre-ordered on vinyl here.
Fuck The Crotches marks a sonic departure from the harsh crust-punk and metallic crunch typically associated with Tel Aviv’s long-running, ostracized punk underground. Instead, the band pulls inspiration from 1970s punk, garage rock, and traditional folk singer-songwriters, with their lyrics ranging from anti-Zionism and anti-apartheid, to institutional corruption, racism and moral decay, religious fundamentalism, and the environment. While their poltically raunchy perspective has always anchored their deep catalog, Fuck The Crotches refines their approach with space carved for universal love, raw human emotion, and poetic defiant anti-conservatism.
“The work process on this album was probably the quickest we ever had because we viewed it as a necessity. When we decided to move to the United States, we didn’t want to waste time building an American audience with political rock ‘n’ roll in Hebrew, so we immediately switched to English and compiled a bunch of cool songs. Some were fresh ideas, and others were pulled out of the drawer. In other words, we knew this album was going to be our ticket outta there and that we would be obsolete here without it, so working on it was like another step in our journey to the US, like getting our visa in order or packing up all of our shit.” (guitarist Amitkes Crotch)
