Ahead of a stretch of UK shows this Autumn, The Chameleons, offer a taster of what’s to come with an exclusive live session on BBC 6 Music that was broadcast on Riley & Coe‘s flagship show on Monday 24th August, you can hear the band in-conversation and performing live from the studio in a rare radio appearance here. The session comes as the legendary band mark 45 years since their formation and prepare to embark on a series of live dates around the UK at the tail end of this year. The October dates will be the veteran post/punk band’s third major tour in as many years, and kicks off at Glasgow’s SWG3 on 20th October, before stops in Leeds, Bristol, London and Southampton throughout the month. At these shows, The Chameleons will be joined by the very special guest, Lol Tolhurst whose set will feature early and seminal songs from The Cure‘s back catalogue.
Now something of a pre-Christmas tradition in their home city, the run of shows this year will also see Chameleons resurrect their Home Is Where The Heart Is homecoming show for its 12th anniversary. Taking place on the 4th and 5th of December, the latest instalment will see them headline two nights at the beautifully restored 1300 capacity New Century Hall, following sold-out spells at the Albert Hall and the Ritz in recent years.Fans attending the first night of Home Is Where The Heart Is will see the band joined by fellow Mancunians Kahula on support, as well as Mansfield new wave heroes B-Movie. On the following night, the ethereal Evi Vine takes on the opening slot, alongside very special guests Kitchens of Distinction‘s frontman Patrick Fitzgerald and the Manchester Camerata who will bring strings to the show. In addition, Andy Woods will be hosting an after party downstairs at New Century Hall from 11pm-1am on both Friday and Saturday, with free entry for ticket holders.
