Following an extended hiatus and several side projects, Russian Girlfriends have reunited with original vocalist Adam Hooks and drummer JR Willoughby, bringing together the band’s strongest lineup to date. The band have now released the appropriately titled, Never Better EP, that builds on everything that came before, combining the urgency of their early punk roots with heavier guitars, tighter songwriting, and the experience gained from more than a decade of writing, recording, and touring. Never Better is now available through streaming platforms and on black, silver and baby blue vinyl variants via Sell The Heart Records (US), Engineer Records (UK), Scene Police Records (Germany), and High End Denim Records (Canada)
Never Better was recorded in April 2026 at Arizona’s Flying Blanket Studios, the EP features six new tracks that find Russian Girlfriends at their most focused, ferocious, and emotionally intelligent. The EP combines the band’s trademark intensity, aggression, and razor-sharp punk songwriting with a newfound sense of maturity and perspective. There’s plenty of noise, speed, and fury, but beneath it all is something deeper. Open Armed And Dangerous confronts division with empathy. Violent Mind wrestles with intrusive thoughts and inner turmoil. Mosaic embraces radical self-acceptance. These songs aren’t interested in nihilism or destruction for their own sake, they’re about finding a way forward.
