Mignon is a singer, composer and producer who grew out of Berlin’s underground scene. As a teenage punk runaway, she learned her craft from drag performers. Her explosive live shows and international tours cemented her reputation as a fearless, high-energy performer. Blending punk attitude with sharp songwriting and theatrical flair, Mignon continues to push boundaries on stage and in the studio, an independent artist with a wild history and a sound that refuses to sit still. Mignon has now released her new single, Fist in a Honeypot, that is available through streaming platforms and Bandcamp via Bad Girl Records. The track follows on from We’re The Monsters and This Crazy World, and is the latest cut from her upcoming fourth album, Blind Dark Horse, that will be released later this year.
Fist in a Honeypot may take aim at the fat cats in their tall towers but at its core, it’s a song that belongs to you and me, the “little people” on the rock n’ roll dancefloors below. In just over two minutes, Mignon, ‘The Mother of Rats’ conjures up a world where, like in a Fleischer cartoon, high-energy dancing seems the simplest antidote to a capitalist dystopia. Jaunty and joyous might not necessarily be adjectives you’d consider for a roaring critique on economic greed but in troubled times, Mignon understands that sharing fun and kindness within a community, be that our alternative families or even strangers, is the biggest form of enrichment when all else seems impossible. So in a time where the sticky fingers of the rich keep wanting more and more, you’ll find the grinning guitar-led middle finger of Fist in a Honeypot is plenty enough.
