Bergamo’s Hakan have returned with My New Team, the lead single & video to be taken from their fifth album that will be released in December via Mom’s Basement Records (USA), Shield Recordings (The Netherlands), Take The City Records (Spain) and Rockstar Records (Germany). The song is about alcohol-fueled nights through Kraków, moving through the city’s darker nightlife and into the intense world of football ultras, the hardcore supporter culture whose identity is built around club loyalty, confrontation, rivalry, scarves, rituals. In My New Team, the band encounters an ultras leader who hands them a scarf as if it were a relic, a kind of initiation into a world that is simultaneously crazy, dangerous, and strangely fascinating. It’s classic Hakan, drawing from the raw energy of UK punk and connecting to the punk/garage scene the band invests today in Italy.
“We chose this song as both the first single and the album opener because it holds a special place in the story of the upcoming record: it was the first song we wrote for it. It also captures the attitude of Hakan, very energetic and unapologetically “in your face”. It felt like the best calling card for what the band is about.”
