Glasgow’s Dragged Up have released their fierce new single and video, Rapunzel, that is now available via streaming platforms and Bandcamp. The track is also accompanied by a video that features guest appearances from members of Thee Oh Sees, The Nightingales, Thee Retail Simps, Pansy Division, Pink Kross, National Park, The Pastels, and comedian Stewart Lee. Rapunzel follows on from two standalone single releases last year, and serves as the third single ahead of the Glasgow outfit’s highly anticipated third full-length album that will be released via Label Obscura and Warped Tracks.
Rapunzel is backed up by Black Carbon, the two songs that couldn’t be more different if they’d been written on separate planets. Whilst Rapunzel lunges at you with all the elegance of a brick through a greenhouse, Black Carbon proves that Dragged Up have discovered something more dangerous than sheer volume: restraint. Beneath the distortion sits melody, atmosphere and enough quiet menace to make the loud bits hit even harder.
