Initially coming from the DIY hardcore scene, Switzerland’s Coilguns have spent the years since 2011 crafting their very own blend of punk and ecstatic noise-rock. They are known for their raw, uncompromising and euphoric live performances, proudly serving the dancing freaks and the crowd-surfing weirdos. The band’s story has always been closely intertwined with guitarist Jona Nido‘s Humus Records, a fiercely independent label whose catalogue has now grown to more than 170 releases from Swiss artists spanning virtually every corner of the sonic spectrum. While much of Coilguns’ early material was entirely self-produced, engineered and mixed by the band themselves, things took a different turn in the summer of 2022, when they travelled to the end-of-the-world surroundings of Oceansound Recordings in Norway. There, they joined forces with producer Scott Evans to track their fourth studio album, which was later mixed by producer Tom Dalgety. Released in November 2024, Odd Love marked a turning point for Coilguns and triggered their most extensive touring cycle yet, culminating in more than 85 shows worldwide throughout 2025. Fuelled by that momentum, the band wasted little time getting back to work. Somewhere between tours, Coilguns found the time to write and record their fifth album, once again bringing Tom Dalgety behind the mixing desk and Scott Evans into the recording process.

Fresh from their first Mexican tour, Coilguns headed straight into the headquarters of Humus Records in their hometown of La Chaux-de-Fonds, an old warehouse packed with vintage gear in the heart of the city, and turned it into their recording space. Determined to explore every possibility the new material had to offer, the band also enlisted Ben Chisholm for additional production and overdubs. Written in urgent times, Everything We Love, We Destroy reflects a world that Coilguns see as increasingly opaque, absurd and difficult to grasp. In response, the band deliberately stripped things back: the riffs became rougher, the lyrics clearer, and whenever confronted with a choice during the writing process, they opted for the simplest route and the boldest move. That sense of urgency also shaped the way the album was created. After spending much of the previous year on the road, Coilguns arrived at the sessions overflowing with new experiences and energy, writing and recording the songs quickly while everyone was pulling in the same direction. Everything We Love, We Destroy also marks the first album written with bassist Kevin Galland involved from the very beginning, allowing the band to fully embrace the possibilities of a classic four-piece line-up for the first time. For a band that spent 2025 relentlessly tearing across stages around the world, slowing down was apparently never an option.

Coilguns will be on tour in Europe in support of Everything We Love, We Destroy, including a brace of album release shows at Lusanne’s Le Romandie on the 12th and 13th December, the band have also announced 2027 EU and UK tour dates. You can view Coilguns tour dates and purchase tickets here.
