Brazilian born and UK based duo Yur Mum have announced that their new single, Snakes Don’t Fly, will be released on Friday 13th June, the track features guest vocals from Myura Amara (Pollypikpocketz) and blends punk rock energy with Latinx vibes. Snakes Don’t Fly is taken from the band’s Duality album, the track is a reality check in the form of satire, it’s a parallel between laws against immigration and trans rights which have been sanctioned in many countries, even the once progressive UK and USA. It’s about classism and fascism being not only fashionable again, but legalised.

The title comes from a Brazilian saying “Deus não dá asa à cobra” meaning “God won’t grant wings to a snake”. It’s a bitterly honest line about how society holds back those it sees as inferior. The band will mark the release with two live performances, on Friday 13th June at Yur Mum will appear at London’s Signature Brew Haggerston with The Mullet Monster Mafia, Roadkill Drive-Thru, Fantazmaz and Altermoderns and on the 14th June they will appear at Brighton’s The Prince Albert with The Mullet Monster Mafia, Dead Hombres and Belmont Beach Weirdos.
