Yakkie‘s new single takes aim at fuckboys, exposing the loneliness and internal chaos among men who seek validation from as many women as possible. He Sleeps Alone is propelled by an undulating grunge bassline, which grooves into an earworm chorus that sees vocalist Janey Starling (Dream Nails) jubilantly proclaim the song’s title. He Sleeps Alone is another taster of Yakkie‘s forthcoming debut album, Kill The Cop Inside Your Head, which is set for release on the 13th February. Yakkie will also be tour in the UK with US-based political punks Dead Pioneers in February and March.
“He Sleeps Alone’ is an anti-fuckboy anthem written in the age of the situationship. This song is about the emotional loneliness that straight men create for themselves through desperate performances of masculinity that cut themselves off from real love. If there’s a “male loneliness epidemic”, it’s entirely men’s own doing through their self-absorption and superficiality. I know far too many hot and intelligent women who have been thrown into emotional turmoil by insecure men who are strangers to themselves and end up dragging others into their vortex of self-loathing.”
