Los Angeles-based band The Manic Standstill continue their streak of anthemic heartfelt releases with the arrival of their latest single, Go Away, that features an upbeat and melodic duet between frontman Adam Bones (The Two Tens) and Nicolette Vilar (Go Betty Go). The result is a resonant and relatable song about two people in a relationship, whether romantic, platonic, or familial, caught in the push-and-pull of adventure versus stability. Their vocal chemistry and storytelling make Go Away a highlight in The Manic Standstill‘s growing discography. The song’s accompanying video marks Adam Bones’ directorial debut, a high-energy performance clip peppered with real-life B-roll footage of him and Nicolette on tour when he filled in on guitar for Go Betty Go.
“Nicolette’s idea for her and I to do a duet came up a long while ago. We tried once back then, but it didn’t really go anywhere. When The Manic Standstill’s album started coming together, I thought it was the perfect time to revisit it. Nicolette liked the demo, and we both agreed it needed new words. Later, while hanging out with friends at her place, she came downstairs with a spark of inspiration, and we started writing right there on the spot. I wanted to make something simple and fun that reflected the vibe of the track. It was such a great time creating the song and video with Nicolette. I’m glad our almost-decade-long idea finally came to life.” (Adam Bones)

Go Away follows the band’s previous singles, Reasons Why and Bulletproof, that are taken from The Manic Standstill‘s upcoming full-length, Moving, that is due out later this year via Wiretap Records and Double Helix Records. Moving boasts a stacked lineup of guest appearances, including members of The Aquabats, Prima Donna, The Offspring, Teenage Bottlerocket, The Lillingtons, Go Betty Go, The Dollyrots, Suzi Moon, The Screamers, I Fight Dragons, Billy Liar and Johnny Madcap & the Distractions.
