The Northeast of England’s best known Psychobilly Punk band, The Hangmen, have just realised the three track Hellriders On The Wall Of Death EP. Singer and lead guitarist Loz Firewalker says “The title song was originally a collaboration with the Ken Fox Wall Of Death stunt show. The idea being that it would play over loudspeakers to attract the attention of passing crowds, like a carny barker. When Ken heard the demo of what we came up with (recorded in our rehearsal building we call ‘The Loudhouse’) he said he thought it was banging but too much for general public sensibilities and asked if we could tame it a little for the actiual recording. We honestly tried, but it was doomed to fail. Ken was okay with us keeping the association to promote the tune but had to decline using it as per the original intention. Too wild for people who use speed to defy gravity with no protective gear or safety net then”.
