The Dahmers have today released their third album, Creature Feature, via the band’s own Eerie Sounds imprint. The road to the album began with the raw punk rush of Nightmare of ’78, continued through the boogie-driven River City Skyline, and culminated in the dramatic rock anthem, In the Dark, that encapsulates the band’s dark yet melodic universe. Recorded and co-produced by Johan Gustafsson, (The Hives), at Stockholm’s Studio Ingrid, the album expands The Dahmers‘ sound with guest musicians and instruments such as brass, cello, flute and piano, alongside synth elements for added depth.
Creature Feature is a melodic, gothic and irresistibly catchy album, crafted as a complete listening experience rather than a collection of songs. Each track takes its own path as The Dahmers explore themes of darkness, melancholy and alienation, while paying homage to 70s and 80s slasher and giallo cinema. The album also features stories of a Swedish fakir, cults, rats and extraterrestrial creatures, a celebration of trash culture, outsiders and misfits, delivered with the band’s signature pop-leaning choruses.
“Our goal has been to push and evolve our sound without losing our colorful core. We want the album to feel uplifting and escapist — something that takes listeners to another place and lets them forget the world for a while.” (lead singer Christoffer Karlsson)
