Seattle punk rock mainstays The Briefs have released a brand new single, Hospital Elevator / Mary Ann, that casts an examination upon the darker corners of life. Despite hitting their 25th anniversary the band continues to bash out songs the same way as in their first year of existence, the single was even recorded with the same producer and engineer who The Briefs made their beloved debut 7″ with, Seattle legend Kurt Bloch (The Fastbacks / Young Fresh Fellows).

“There’s nicer hospital visits and then there’s seedier ones, like where there’s cops and people withdrawing and sketchy guys in handcuffs and all that. And you’re trying to find your girlfriend and it’s 4am and you’re in an elevator. The song is along those lines. With a cool beat. Recording with Kurt seemed immediately the proper thing to do. He knows how to make a punk single. These songs are exactly the material we want to be releasing. Short, good, and to the point. And if you’re familiar with us, you fucking know it’s us right away. Music for people with pet rats.“ (guitarist & vocalist Steve E. Nix)

The Briefs are on tour this Spring in the UK, followed by a week of recording in Berlin and German tour dates. In the US, the band are playing three all ages shows in the Northwest and making two appearances at Punk Rock Bowling‘s 25 year anniversary. For their yearly show in hometown Seattle, instead of playing at a usual club, they decided to change things up and play two nights at the celebrated but tiny all ages dive bar, Lucky Liquor, located on the outskirts of town.
