Birmingham, UK’s Solar Eyes are primed to hit the road in support of their recently released and critically acclaimed album, Live Freaky! Die Freaky!, that is available through Fierce Panda Records. Kicking off at East London’s Old Blue Last this coming October 15th and winding up in Paris at the Supersonic Club on the 24th, expect shimmering melodies and pulsating beats a go-go. To celebrate this, the band have acid dropped another single from the album, optimistically titled I See The Sun

“So, this is an old song that set me on the journey of writing this album. It started as a love letter to my daughter. Working out we’re in this together until my end. But then Jeff Knowler, our mixer heard it as a rough demo and was like ‘you should record that’, after watching ‘Once upon a time in Hollywood’, I love Tarantino, so then it went from there. I became obsessed with Manson and the book ‘Chaos’. Then this whole album came on the back of that. As it goes, I read that book, because Tarantino suggested, when asked about how he wrote the film. I guess the song taps into the spaghetti western, dusty vibe, but a song I’m very proud of.” (vocalist & guitarist Glenn Smyth)

Solar Eyes

Live Freaky! Die Freaky! sees Solar Eyes take the Spaghetti Junction Western vibes of their debut and add in darker, broader, bleaker shades of ragged glory. This is an album about heroes lost in battle, an album which squints at the dark side of the West Coast sun, an album influenced by The Doors, The Stooges, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Ennio Morricone and The Velvet Underground, with a touch of Charlie Manson on closing track Hello Charlie. Live Freaky! Die Freaky! is the soundtrack to a warped way of life, and then some.
