American Steel were one of the last great bands to come out of Berkeley’s 924 Gilman scene. Forged in the same fires as Operation Ivy, Crimpshrine, Green Day and Rancid, the band have now reissued their 1998 self titled album on CD, vinyl and digital formats via Red Scare Industries. American Steel will be appearing at San Pedro’s The Sardine tonight, the 20th March, and San Francisco’s Bottom Of the Hill on the 21st March in support of the release, both dates feature support from Sweet Gloom and Jen Pop (The Bombpops) and you can purchase tickets for both dates here.

“AmSteel evolved into one of the most artful and sophisticated punk bands around, but this quartet began as a truly raw and wrathful DIY outfit, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to share this 17-song hidden gem. We have been begging the band to release this material since Red Scare first began. Literally pestering them for twenty years. Listen to this dynamic debut and you will understand why.” (Red Scare Industries‘ Tobias Jeg)
