It’s not very often that an EP drops into your inbox that has a title that’s got your name written all over it, so when Problem Pattern latest offering landed it pricked up my curiosity, could they really know me that well? Boring Songs For Boring People is said EP, but as I did suspect it turns out not to be exactly what it says on the tin. If this is boring, fucking hell, I’ve obviously lived with my head in the sand for too many years! ‘Song For Fi’ last all of 58 seconds but rips your head off musically and vocally. Then ‘Sad Old Woman’ comes in to finish the job off, featuring guest vocals from Pissed Jeans‘ Matt Korvette, this song takes on the sexist and ageist society with satirical ease, it calls out the idea of how women feel the pressure of getting older and having to aspire to unrealistic goals or risk becoming invisible.

The next two tracks are for myself the most easy listening, yes I’m guilty of being older and boring, so having tracks like ‘Classic Rock Has Become My Prison’ the wonderful rant filled melodic ode to classic rock male mentality, and then the ear worm that is ‘I’m Fine And I’m Doing Great’, a song that’s actually sad at its core, how can being tied to the grind of writing and playing songs all your growing up life be so fucking great!, sometimes its harder than you could even imagine. You know what I love about EP’s, its that there short to the point (well mostly) and us review wankers, don’t have to spend six hours listening and contemplating what say about it. So being ‘Bone Idle’ and ‘Boring Songs For Boring People’ bring us sharply to a close on this EP of 6 songs, both give you an unfiltered look into what being in a punk band is really like.  

Have this band hit the mark again, you know what, go buy and listen yourself and make your own mind up, I can’t do all the work for you, were would be the fun in that?  OK! Yes I loved it, there I said it.
