Los Pepes International line up, which spans from the UK to Japan, Brazil and Poland, reconvened in their adopted home city of London, UK to record and release their sixth full length, Out Of The Void, that has been freshly released into the wild via a very respectable clutch of international indie imprints. Their latest album continues to bridge the gap between garage punk, power pop and good old fashioned punk rock, along with a splash of rock ‘n fucking roll, and there’s no better example of their high voltage Power Punk Pop than lead single and opening track, Thoughtless Boys, with its Buzzcocks-esque energy and killer hooks. To prove this is not a one off they keep the needle in the red with Molly Coddle and New Christians.

Three tracks in and we’re three for three on high energy Punky Power Pop, whilst all is well in Power Pop town this does beg the question of whether Los Pepes are a member of the one trick pony club, the answer to the question is of course a resounding no. Whilst the core of their sound is rooted in this high energy revved up Punky tunes there are welcome changes in style and pace, such as the laid back Sweet Appeasement with it’s epic guitar breaks and swirling keyboards. If you also throw the old school punk rock of Foreign Bodies, the rock ‘n fucking roll of Above & Beyond and surprisingly soulful garagey twang of All I Got Is Time into the mix, you have an album that delivers Power Pop, but not quite as you know it. Los Pepes are doing things their own way on their own terms as they always have done, and we wouldn’t have them any other way.

Out Of The Void is now available via Wanda Records (Germany / UK), Ghost Highway Recordings (Spain), Beluga Records (Scandinavia) and Spaghetty Town Records (USA). Los Pepes will be playing shows across the UK and EU across the Spring and Summer, including appearances at Germany’s Sonic Waves Festival and the UK’s Rebellion Festival.
