Not sure if the date of release for this stinging EP by The Infamous Stiffs was by design or by coincidence. Independence Day for most might have been a celebration of the past, but this is an era of dictatorship for the unwitting I’m afraid, so to bring this band’s venom filled songs out on this day is actually perfect timing either way.

Six songs that Rock n Roll from beginning to end, a 15 minute stretch of punk rock and nothing more, no frills, but plenty of sharpened quills firing off here. Ornery is nor a word that trips off the tongue easily, but it’s a word that fits this push back at life in general EP, songs that have fire in their belly, but still drop some wonderful tunes along the way. ‘No Static’ comes in like a Motörhead moment, its a two minute bomb of a song to kick us off, this is then followed by the play it loud shotgun blast at all the ‘Loose Screwz’ that run this fucked up world into the ground. ‘Evel Mann’ harks us back to the beginning of this piece, a warning of how twisted figures can manipulate the truth to their own ends, a tale of actual truths I’d say in today’s climate.

‘Lonesoul’ drops in next, this is a song that brings some respite for the ears, but what it doesn’t do is lose any traction, in fact I’d say it grabs you by the throat and shows you just how being alive can be a struggle. Life can feel like a fight from beginning to end, it shouldn’t be that way, and this song hits home solidly that’s for sure. This is followed by ‘Walk Away’, sometimes it’s best to just do exactly this, another blast of Punk Rock venom to add to this full on EP.

To end we get the wonderful tribute to Kaos legend Johnny Stingray, ‘Top Secret’ explodes like a punk rock ticking time bomb right on cue! From top to tail, this is an EP that should be played at 11 with no compromises, its filled to the brim with pure Punk Rock and no one can argue with that.
