Menopausecore sheroes I, Doris are back with a sun-drenched new double single: a body-positive Garage Surf anthem that is being released in not one but two versions, English, and (inexplicably) en français. This joyous ode is here to remind us all that “tout le monde est prêt pour la plage!” A glorious video, shot this summer on Blackpool beach and at Rebellion Festival by The Punk Site‘s very own Mark Cartwright, captures the track’s playful spirit, complete with bold swimwear, cheeky choreography, and a cameo from Hull’s rising riot grrrl teen sensations Wench. I, Doris are here to remind you: whatever your shape, whatever your size, you’re already Beach Body Ready.
“We wanted to make a song that reminds everyone their body is already beach-ready. No crash diets, no filters, just you and your fabulous self. And why French? Because everything sounds cooler in French… even cellulite.”
I, Doris are also heading off on something of a world tour, with dates confirmed for Australia this December in Sydney on the 7th December and Melbourne on the 14th December. UK Fans can catch them at London’s The Lexington on the 4th October at Loud Women’s 10th Birthday Party. I, Doris will also be appearing at Sutton’s Sound Lounge with Chris Difford (Squeeze) and Stockwell’s The Cavendish Arms with Fast Blood and Honey Joy.
