Heaps NY is the latest single from Punk band Gymshorts. The track was written two years ago by vocalist and guitarist Sarah Greenwell, it was inspired by the Australian Punk band The Chats who Gymshorts were touring with at the time. Greenwell wrote the song from the perspective of The Chats’ vocalist, Eamon Sandwith, in Australian slang, heaps means “a lot” or “very,” and is often used to describe a large quantity or high degree of something.
Greenwell shared the song with The Chats toward the end of their tour and the Aussies wanted to play the song that night, with Greenwell singing. All members of The Chats appear in the video for Heaps NY, and comedian Shane Torres makes a cameo as well.
