LA Rocker and self-proclaimed “Dirty Misfit,” Kit Major, is ringing in the new year with the announcement of a new EP, Miss Ego, that is due for release June 12th via Futureless Records. Known for her signature blend of alt-pop and grunge-punk edge, Major has drawn comparisons to comparisons to Iggy PopViagra BoysAmyl & The SniffersMiss Ego is a rock ’n roll show and one hell of a good-time girl. The EP explores identity, femininity, and how much space a woman is allowed to take onstage, in relationships, in the rock scene and in the world. To kick things off, she’s sharing lead single, Not As Witty As I Used To Be, that is due out on February 13th, but you don’t need to wait as The Punk Site has an exclusive early premiere of the track. Not As Witty As I Used To Be is a fiery, Ramones-esque rebellious anthem that turns the volume all the way up, short, sharp, and delightfully unhinged.

Not As Witty As I Used To Be is a mouthful, but a song this short needs length somewhere. It’s playful and a little unhinged. I’d rather spill my secrets shouting over guitars than in silence.” (Kit Major)

The music video marks Kit Major’s directorial and editing debut, with the band styled with special help from North Hollywood gem Yes Baby! VintageMiss Ego was born out of a writer’s block: choosing between two different songs built around the same idea, “there’s no room in bed for Miss Ego”, that statement became the foundation of the EP. Sonically and visually, Miss Ego mirrors a Kit Major live show, platform boot kicks and all. It’s high-energy from start to finish, with lyrics made to be screamed out car windows and shouted back from the crowd.
