Erotic Secrets of Pompeii have released their latest single, Moving Sidewards into Lightning, via streaming platforms. The track explores themes of crisis, uncertainty and transformation, taking inspiration from Robert Anton Wilson’s concept of Chapel Perilous, a state of mind encountered during moments of profound upheaval where perception and reality collide. At the heart of the track are a pair of duelling guitars that bubble and thunder in their cavernous cages, building towards an expansive guitar solo that anchors its emotional intensity.
Accompanying the single is a psychedelic semi-animated music video, featuring hand-drawn monstrosities from renowned Bristol artist CF Sherratt. The video was animated by the band’s guitarist, Tom Hackwell, bringing the surreal vision to life. Moving Sidewards into Lightning arrives ahead of Erotic Secrets of Pompeii’s highly anticipated new album, Pitchfork Libra, which is set for release on the 3rd October. The band will be playing an album release show at Bristol, UK’s Rough Trade on the 17th October, they will then play a run of European dates that will be followed by a UK tour at the end of the year.
