Since forming in 2023, DEFBLONDE have been working at a blistering pace, the band is comprised of Bri Slutcher (UK Subs) and Mog (Screeech Rock). The duo began after a collaboration for just one song but their chemistry rapidly developed and they self released their eponymous debut album in 2024 which was swiftly followed by the Mayday EP. Defblonde’s next move was to seek a collaboration with the Never Be Quiet Records. The band has now released their new album, Defblondos, that radiates with ten new sparkling tracks full of verve and panache, defying categorisation, but still retaining their alternative attitude and ethic.
“We are not a punk band! Although punk has clearly had an influence on us, it’s not what we’re trying to be, we’re not in fact trying to be anything in particular: we just write what we feel at the time. Our songs are observational, tongue in cheek, sometimes include social and political commentary, lyrics that are open to interpretation and not any particular style. We feel absolutely no pressure to conform to any genre, which we find very liberating. We do what we like: that’s punk rock! As well as writing music we’re having a lot of fun creating videos, we’re not afraid of the dressing up box! We’ve got a few videos up now on our YouTube channel and we’ve a few more in the pipeline. We’ve also made a conscious decision not to get involved with any management companies because we want the creative freedom to do what we want, at our own pace.” (Mog)
