Beth Seymour returned to music in a blaze of glory earlier this year after an extended break in the wake of coming out as transgender. Having released a string of memorable singles already in 2025, Seymour is now releasing her first album since 2021’s Tales of Suburban Angst, and the first to be released with her new band, The Lizzies, and under her true name. You Wouldn’t Like It Inside My Head is the first two of records that tell her life story, with this volume focusing on Beth’s struggles with identity or, in her words, her “breakdown”. Seymour’s signature Indie-Punk style evokes equal parts My Chemical Romance, Against Me! and The Lemonheads, with lush vocal arrangements layered over walls of overdriven guitars and heart-pounding drums.
You Wouldn’t Like It Inside My Head is now available via digital retailers, with a physical release on CD and Minidisc available through Bandcamp. The album was recorded and mixed by Beth Seymour at her home studio in scenic Ferntree Gully, with drums recorded by Greg MacMillan at Echidna Studio, and mastered by Jesse Cannon at Cannon Found Soundation.
“I always knew I had a story to tell, it just took some time for me to realise that it was the story of Beth. My journey to coming out was long, difficult and filled with pain, and I’m grateful that I finally have the platform and the opportunity to speak my truth. I hope my story can help other people who are struggling to find who they are. On this first record, I completely fall to pieces. On the next, I’ll be fitting the pieces back together.” (Beth Seymour)
