Bad Cop Bad Cop are back with another sparkling single from Lighten Up, their new album that is due for release on September 19th via Fat Wreck Chords / Hopeless Records. The punk darlings have unveiled Strugglinh, a high-energy anthem written by bassist Linh Le that packs a powerful punch, particularly about mental health. With their classic riot‑grrrl punch and infectious melodies, the band is hitting fans with an important message about forging ahead in life, even when it feels impossible. The band has also announced a slew of new tour dates including a September US record release headline tour followed by a headline European run starting in October. “To be honest, it’s always been a challenge for me to be vulnerable and to be open with what is going on internally. Quite frankly, I’ve always been the type of person that has carried the “get over it” mentality. I think what also comes along with it is the expectations that we have with ourselves and what people expect of us. I think it’s fair to say that the expectations I have for myself and that other people have of me are quite high and it’s pretty harmless for the most part. But I think what I struggle with is that sometimes, no matter how hard I try, those expectations aren’t always met and it can take a pretty massive toll, which up until relatively recently, I’ve just processed internally. I started taking therapy a few months ago to help me navigate through this and it’s helped me to also acknowledge the effort of trying my best & accept the flaws within myself. I have to say that I want to give a special thank you to my girls for all their support and encouraging me to be more vulnerable. They gave me the courage to write something that I didn’t think I should even care about. And y’all can thank Stacey for giving it the title “Strugglinh” haha. Gotta love some play on words. Anyway, the bottom line is that I know that everyone goes through their own shit with mental health. But I sincerely hope that after listening to this that no matter what struggles people go through, the effort that they put into becoming a better version of themselves while also accepting their flaws is what truly matters. You are all enough.” (Linh Le)
